Basic problems of humanity at hand (44)

Big Pharma's massive funding of governments, legislatures, WHO and researchers; Why Pfizer's adverse effects of the Corona vaccine have not been disclosed?

About ten years ago, I published in this column some of the problems of criminal activities of pharmaceutical companies. One of them was to point out the vaccine problem of Swine Flu, and the actions of the pharmaceutical companies in relation to the drug "Viagra" [1].
The current global uproar triggered by the WHO's declaration of a new coronavirus pandemic, Covid-19, in 2020 also seems to be deeply related to the pharmaceutical industry. Ms. Rebecca Strong has published a detailed discussion of the issues at various levels [2]. Some of her arguments will be quoted below. Her grandfather was involved in the growth of the company Pfizer as an engineer.
Currently, Pfizer's annual sales are $81 billion and Johnson-Johnson j-J Inc. is around $94 billion, greater than the wealth of most countries. Pfizer averaged about $75,000 in contributions to 97 senators in the 2016 election; about $6 million to Joe Biden in the 2020 election. This involves the issue of corporate personhood [3].
The pharmaceutical group has also manipulated the government - the legislature - to create laws that limit lawsuits from those who have been harmed, even if they have been adversely affected by the drugs they have created. Thus, they do fraud/tort with impunity. Why, because the profits, even if they are fraudulent, are often greater than the fines for the crimes [4].
One of the fundamental problems is the impact of these companies on scientific research in pharmacy/medicine, etc. In one year (not noted), the New England Journal of Medicine had 73 papers on new drugs, 82% of which were funded by drug companies, and 68% of which included drug company employees as researchers. In 2016, the U.S. as a whole spent a total of $8.18 billion on doctors, training hospitals, etc. [5]. The 2013 University of Arizona study found that drug companies, even if they don't directly fund research, seem to do so through company stock holders, consultants and mentors related to the researchers, and so on. And in the 2022 survey, 81% of the papers published in the two most important research journals did not mention any such support from drug companies. It should be mentioned that such facts (e.g., sources of funding) is required to be noted in the paper [2].
The story of a painkiller called Vioxx, launched by Merck in 1999, is notable [6]. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Merck published 73 papers (ghostwritten) emphasizing the drug's benefits [2]. Dr. D. Graham, the deputy commissioner of the FDA, published a review of 160,000 heart attacks and strokes caused by this painkiller, noting that the drug was unsafe [7]. The FDA, which approved the drug, ignored this and the drug continued to be sold. However, because a number of researches on the dangers of the drug had been published, Merck finally withdrew the drug in September 2004. Strong's article [2] lists many more such examples.
When WHO was founded in 1948, it was only funded by countries belonging to the United Nations, but in 2005, the system was changed to allow private companies to contribute. Today, only 20% of the funding comes from UN member states, with the remaining 80% coming from private companies and individuals. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation alone contributes 13% of the WHO's annual costs, and WHO donors include big pharma companies such as AstraZeneca, Bayer, Pfizer, J-J and Merck.
Finally, there is the matter of the vaccines for Covid-19. The 2020 report on Pfizer's vaccine names 29 researchers, 18 of whom were Pfizer employees and owned stock of the company. Another was once funded by Pfizer. Of the15 researchers in the 2021 study, seven were Pfizer employees or stockholders. The remaining eight were funded by Pfizer.
On top of that, the FDA refused to make Pfizer's data (329,000 pages) public. No, they gave them 75 years to release it all. At the request of many academics and others, they managed to get up to 12,000 pages released by January 31, 2022, and after that, they will be turning over 55,000 pages every month. These data are beginning to reveal the serious adverse effects of the vaccine that Pfizer concealed in my earlier post (see note 8): not only infection from SARS-CoV-2, but also other adverse health effects of the vaccine (notably myocarditis and various deaths from blood clots). There are also a significant number of weekly announcements (VAERS) by the CDC. It announced: 23,149 deaths, 183,311 severe cases, and 1,597 premature births and miscarriages from December 2020 to the end of January 2022. These are voluntarily reported figures, and they may not represent the real numbers; the true numbers are about 10 to 100 times higher than these figures. Nonetheless, vaccine uptake is still being emphasized and in some cases, if you don't take the vaccine, you could lose your job. In some cases, doctors have been forced out of their jobs simply for publishing negative effects of vaccines. The above is mainly the situation in the U.S., but how about in Japan?
